Kedah Rubber City (KRC), the Northern Corridor Economic Region’s (NCER) thematic industrial park and Malaysia’s first dedicated rubber eco-industrial park, is targeting RM2 billion in new investments this year.
Northern Corridor Implementation Authority (NCIA) chief executive Mohamad Haris Kader Sultan said that investments committed since KRC’s launch in February 2022 had reached RM3.06 billion.
“Phase one of KRC is now ready and offering attractive amenities, utilities and opportunities to both local and foreign investors since quarter two of 2021. The on-site utilities, such as electricity, water, gas and telecommunication infrastructure, are ready.
“For phase one, we are covering 496.05 acres from the total land area of 1,244 acres we currently plan for the whole KRC project.
Mohamad Haris said this to Bernama after the 8th edition of NCER’s Teh Tarik Session here at MIDA Sentral Kuala Lumpur, after sharing the latest updates, developments and investment opportunities available in KRC as well as the region’s rubber industry landscape and its growth potential.
He said that KRC is poised to play a pivotal role in strengthening regional cooperation in the Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand growth triangle.
“With an established and efficient supply chain and integrated logistics hub, investors can also take advantage of the network of surrounding industries, an abundance of high-skilled talent and institutions of higher learning.
“We are committed to promoting environmentally friendly and sustainable development. Environmental, social, and governance factors are at the forefront of our agenda, and we are pleased to announce that we are working towards aligning all our thematic industrial parks with these principles,” he added.
