Malaysia’s good governance attracts foreign investors, says Anwar

Malaysia’s good governance has attracted more foreign investments into the country, said Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He attributed the success to the “team effort of the unity government”, which he said has given investors confidence in the country.
Anwar cited significant investments by Amazon Web Services and China as examples.
“Investors are aware that we don’t steal or take commissions. They know Malaysia doesn’t engage in corruption and is committed to protecting the people’s welfare.
“This has resulted in a drop in inflation and deficit, while increasing revenue,” he said at the Malaysia Madani open house programme at Kawasan Komersial Fasa 3, Taman Seri Gombak on Sunday night.
Also present were the Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amiruddin Shaari, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, and Agriculture and Food Security Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.
Meanwhile, Anwar urged the Inland Revenue Board (IRB) to ensure a clean administration if the country wishes to see an increase in revenue, stressing the importance of the IRB to avoid misconduct.
“From January to April, the Gross Domestic Product increased by 5.6 per cent, higher than China, Vietnam, and Indonesia.
“The IRB reported that tax collections had also increased. Where did the increase come from? (From) people who used to steal and avoid paying tax. Now everyone pays taxes,” he added.
