MB: Kedah attracts RM14.6b approved investments in H12023

The Kedah State Government has recorded RM14.6 billion in approved investments for the period from January to June 2023 (1H2023), Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said.
Muhammad Sanusi said the achievement is driven by the facilities provided in the state, especially at the Kulim Hi-Tech Park (KHTP), in addition to the speed in processing approvals.
“This is a proud achievement for the six-month period and maybe we will record more than that in the year’s remaining period.
“In line with the Kedah Development Plan 2035, the state aims to attract an average of RM10 billion (investments) annually,” he told reporters after chairing the Kulim Technology Park Corporation board of directors meeting at Wisma Darul Aman here today.
Commenting on the Kedah Rubber City (KRC) in Padang Terap, Muhammad Sanusi said the state government has fulfilled its responsibilities of providing facilities in KRC, including land acquisition and water supply.
“Land acquisition for Tenaga Nasional Bhd to install the high voltage transmission line has been made… in terms of water supply, we are able to provide adequate supply, even to start with the first 10 million litres per day,” he said.
He said the state government is expecting more investors to invest in KRC because of its large area with vast potential for upstream and downstream products based on rubber.
“This is just the first phase. I see that the Malaysian Rubber Board has done research to develop a variety of (upstream and downstream) products and these products can be brought into KRC,” he added.
