Ditrolic Solar, UOB Malaysia to help firms adopt renewable energy

25 Feb 2020

Ditrolic Sdn Bhd (Ditrolic Solar), one of Malaysia’s largest commercial and industrial rooftop solar panel providers, has signed an agreement with United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd (UOB Malaysia) to provide installation and management services of solar power systems for the Bank’s corporate clients.

The collaboration marks the fourth tie-up between UOB Malaysia and a leading solar energy provider under its U-Solar programme1, Asia’s first solar industry ecosystem that connects businesses and consumers across the entire value chain.

Under the agreement, Ditrolic Solar will help UOB Malaysia’s clients identify solar power solutions and provide them with installation, commissioning, operations and after-sales service packages for their factories and offices.

Tham Chee Aun, chief executive officer of Ditrolic Solar Group, said the collaboration with UOB Malaysia will help drive the adoption of renewable energy and move the country closer towards achieving its renewable energy goals.

“Over the past decade, we have been providing solar energy solutions to help our customers to transition to clean energy and now, we are excited to partner UOB Malaysia to accelerate this mission.

“We fully support the government’s aspiration to achieve its target of 20 per cent electricity generation from renewable energy sources by 2025.

“This is truly a win-win situation that will benefit not just the solar energy sector but also the end-user and more importantly, it is a step towards achieving carbon reduction and sustainability.”

U-Solar offers two flexible solutions to help Malaysian companies adopt solar power with little upfront capital. To purchase a solar power system for their factory or office, companies can apply for a green loan with UOB Malaysia and a two per cent rebate under the government’s Green Technology Financing Scheme 2.02.

Companies can also benefit from the government’s tax incentives under the Green Investment Tax Allowance and Green Investment Tax Exemption schemes.

UOB’s U-Solar programme also promotes the adoption of solar power among individual homeowners. Through the U-Solar online portal, consumers can access UOB Malaysia’s zero per cent interest instalment plan of up to 36 months when they purchase the services offered by the Bank’s partners.

Ng Wei Wei, managing director and country head of wholesale banking for UOB Malaysia said the U-Solar programme offers a one-stop shop for companies and consumers to access the services offered by UOB’s partners across the region.

“Our U-Solar programme enables homeowners and business owners to select quality solar power equipment and services from UOB’s partners within Malaysia and from across the region.

“The flexible repayment plans and loans we offer further support our customers by helping to reduce the cost of installation and maintenance of solar power systems within their homes, offices and factories.

“Collaborating with our ecosystem partners such as Ditrolic Solar, we hope to help drive greater adoption of renewable energy across Malaysia and promote the overall growth of the solar power industry.”
