Cross Border Investment Division (CBI)
Our Functions
- Connect local companies with IPAs, Foreign Embassies/High Commission in Malaysia, Business Chambers/Councils and relevant agencies.
- Organise seminars and missions to disseminate information on investment/business opportunities abroad.
- Conduct fact finding missions/benchmarking visits.
- Establish networking with Board of Investments or equivalent bodies in host countries.
- Undertake G2G discussion for CBI facilitation.
- Evaluate/process the Malaysia-Singapore Third Country Business Development Fund (MSBDF) applications.
- Explore Government/Private Entities support (fiscal and non-fiscal) to facilitate investment abroad.
- Coordinate/organize the Third Country Training Programme (TCTP) for African Countries with Malaysia Technical Cooperation Programme (MTCP) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
- Compile information/database of Malaysian companies investing overseas, investment opportunities and legal regulation of host countries.
- Undertake relevant CBI activities and programmes e.g. joint seminars, missions, conferences with host country organisers.
- Coordinate the implementation plan for outward investment based on the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) between Malaysia and other countries (e.g. Indonesia, Brunei, etc).
- Proposed activities for development of CBI include undertaking a study to:
- Identify the industries in Malaysia for CBI facilitation e.g. labour intensive industries/industries that are seeking for resources and new markets.
- Identify the industries abroad for Malaysian companies to undertake M&A or technology acquisition to be ahead of the curve.
- Identify the right countries for CBI facilitation.
- Formulate policies.
