5G connectivity enables seamless technology in drone ecosystem — Aerodyne
07 Feb 2023
The application of 5G network connectivity in the drone ecosystem development will allow rapid growth of the drone economy as it will provide more seamless and automated technology, Aerodyne Group said.
Founder and chief executive officer (CEO) Kamarul A Muhamed said the company is currently in the process of developing its drone fleet to be 5G-ready as this would provide better precision and innovation in the drone operation.
“5G-enabled drone technology is just getting started with some key applications including addressing food security, transforming agriculture infrastructure, enhanced unmanned security surveillance and in logistic operations.
“At the moment our drone ecosystem is connected to the 4G network but we are looking at how we can connect this entire drone using the 5G network,” he said at the Future of Digital Economy Through 5G (FDET 5G) forum here today.
Kamarul said the company has been testing the 5G-ready drone technology and working together with Huawei Technologies Co for the past three years in its Middle East operation.
“Now, we are also building our own drones with 5G-ready technology that includes the artificial intelligence (AI) features on top,” he added.
Themed “Empower the industry with digital connectivity”, the three-day FDET 5G forum, beginning today, gathers 500 senior representatives in the 5G ecosystem from multiple sectors like transportation, healthcare, manufacturing, education, power, telco and financial services.
