Software-enabled technology provider Honeywell International Inc has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Airod Techno Power Sdn Bhd (ATP) to set up local maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for the auxiliary power unit (APU) of the C130 aircraft.
In a joint statement, the companies said they also planned to look at offering technical support and supply chain network on other Honeywell products and spares provisioning for existing C130 aircraft platforms operated by the Royal Malaysian Air Force.
“This planned new collaboration, powered by the unmatched expertise and proficiency provided by both Honeywell and ATP, would leverage ATP as a leading engine and component MRO (operator) regionally.
“This MoU will set forth yet another cornerstone for ATP to expand its capability in component MRO,” they said.
The MoU was signed at the Defence Services Asia (DSA) 2022 here today with ATP represented by chief executive officer Major General Datuk Ismail Ibrahim and Honeywell by its Honeywell Aerospace Commercial Aviation senior director for Asia Pacific Sathesh Ramiah.
In a move to strengthen market outreach, ATP has continued to increase its investment in infrastructure, new technologies, resources and capabilities, the statement said.
Incorporated in 1995, ATP is a certified Rolls-Royce authorised maintenance centre for T56/501 engine of C-130/L-100 aircraft. The company is also a certified Lockheed Service Centre for Quick Engine Change.
The four-day biennial DSA, held simultaneously with National Security Conference (NATSEC) Asia, will conclude tomorrow at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Kuala Lumpur.
