Cement Industries of Malaysia (Cima) Bhd has invested RM120mil to develop a waste heat recovery system factory in Bahau, Negri Sembilan.
According to managing director Sharuddin Omar Hashim, the waste heat recovery system is a green technology initiative and will enable the company to save about 30% of electricity consumption and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 24% – equivalent to 60,580 tonnes annually.
“In value terms, the reduction of 30% would save about RM2mil to RM2.5mil in electricity bill of the Bahau factory,” he said at a media briefing and appreciation banquet here yesterday. The factory is expected to be completed in 2024.
