Deputy minister: Collaboration a key to encourage inclusive economic growth

13 Jun 2023

Collaboration is key to encouraging inclusive economic growth in the quest to foster a robust digital trade ecosystem for Malaysia, Deputy Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Liew Chin Tong said.

He said as an example, the success of Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation’s (Matrade) Digital Trade Platform (MDTP) in partnership with Fusionex Group is a testament to the government’s strong advocacy for public-private partnership (PPP) initiatives.

The deputy minister said Matrade and Fusionex’s unwavering commitment to forming this strategic alliance would take Malaysia’s trade to new heights.

Therefore, Liew said he firmly believed that MDTP would be able to transform local heroes into global champions by giving them the right push and guidance needed as they enter the international market.

“The inclusion of MDTP in our export ecosystem, indeed, will add value for local companies to market their products and international buyers interested in Malaysian-made offerings,” he said in his speech at the official launch of MDTP here today.

He said Fusionex’s investments, innovations and disruptive contributions have played a vital role in shaping the business landscape, thanks to their leading technologies and expert workforce.

“Their remarkable achievement of developing a cutting-edge platform in a short period to support our export ambitions deserves recognition,” he said.

He said Matrade, on the other hand, has always been acting as a catalyst in empowering local companies, particularly the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through ground-breaking initiatives and helping them chart new frontiers in international markets.

“Within MDTP, there lies a comprehensive range of digital solutions and services that allows Malaysian businesses to overcome the complexities of international trade.

“By keeping a finger on the pulse of evolving trade requirements, MDTP enables Malaysian enterprises to operate with unparalleled efficiency, ultimately contributing to their success in the global marketplace,” he added.

Introduced in July 2022 in collaboration with data technology market leader Fusionex Group, MDTP is an artificial intelligence (AI) trade platform that aims to maximise Malaysia’s export potential and assist local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in expanding their businesses globally.
