Digital Investment Office records RM3.4 bln in digital projects in 2021 – Mustapa

The Digital Investment Office (DIO) has recorded the approval of RM3.4 billion in digital projects at the National Committee on Investments (NCI) level until Dec 31, 2021, said Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed.
In a written reply in Parliament today, Mustapa said DIO had also received an offer in principle for a project worth RM13.1 billion which was awaiting procedural approval from the NCI.
“In addition, there are 26 projects that are still in the discussion stage between DIO and investors.
“It covers digital technology and infrastructure projects such as data centres, cloud computing and robotics,” he said in response to a question from Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh (PH-Ledang) today.
DIO, established on Aug 2, 2021, is an integrated platform implemented by the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA) and the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC).
The office is a platform that plays an important role in realising the RM70 billion digitalisation investment target under the MyDIGITAL initiative by 2025.
