Global electronics manufacturing and design supply chain showcase in the region, SEMICON Southeast Asia 2022 (SEMICON SEA 2022), will be returning to Penang from June 21-23.
With the themed “Forward as One — Building A Resilient and Sustainable Electronics Supply Chain in Southeast Asia”, SEMICON SEA 2022 will gather experts from around the world for insights into the industry’s most pressing issues.
Semiconductor Equipment & Materials International (SEMI) Southeast Asia president Linda Tan said against the backdrop of global supply chain disruptions, the semiconductor industry has had to take a long look at its entire value chain and find solutions that would ensure business resilience and agility to adapt to rapidly evolving global circumstances along the way.
“SEMICON SEA 2022 therefore provides a timely and relevant platform from which industry players may gather to find solutions through dialogue, knowledge-exchange, and partnerships,” she said.
Meanwhile, Special Investment Advisor to the Chief Minister of Penang, Datuk Seri Lee Kah Choon said celebrating the 50th anniversary of Penang’s industrialisation this year, the state’s sustained excellence and robust industrial ecosystem make it a suitable venue to host SEMICON SEA 2022, where it consistently tops the nation’s foreign direct investment recipient list, clocking a total of RM76 billion in manufacturing investment in 2021.
“Driven by its position as the country’s leading electrical and electronics (E&E) hub, Penang has accounted for over 40% and 50% of the country’s annual trade surplus and electrical and electronics (E&E) exports respectively since 2018,” said Lee.
Featuring more than 250 companies with 400 booths, the three-day event is expected to attract over 10,000 attendees.
