SIRIM, Turkish Aerospace Ink MoU to develop aerospace industry ecosystem

SIRIM Bhd has partnered with Turkish Aerospace through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at fostering collaboration in developing the aerospace industry ecosystem.
With the MoU, both parties will cooperate in areas related to conformity assessment, quality and standards development, research development, and new technology innovations for the aerospace industry.
SIRIM president and group chief executive Datuk Ahmad Sabirin Arshad and Turkish Aerospace Malaysia director Muhammad Najmi Ibrahim signed the agreement on the sidelines of the Selangor Aviation Show 2021.
Ahmad Sabirin said the MoU will enable both parties to accelerate the deployment of any advanced technologies relating to aerospace such as drones or Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs).
“SIRIM and Turkish Aerospace hoped to develop the international strategic technology business framework in relation to aerospace industries and identify a total solution for the implementation of the Industrial 4.0 Smart Manufacturing project,” he said in a joint statement.
He added that SIRIM, through its research arm, will facilitate research and development (R&D) processes with strategic industrial partnering for any new applications such as advanced material which include nano-coating, carbon fibre, and polymer.
Turkish Aerospace president and chief executive officer (CEO) Prof Temel Kotil said with this development, it aims to contribute to the catalyst of Malaysia’s aerospace industry with several joint projects that would benefit both parties. In addition, under the 12th Malaysia Plan, SIRIM will be leading the Aerospace Quality Management System Certification as part of the government’s efforts to develop the industry.
